Lauren Bousfield is a composer and electronic musician from California, based in Los Angeles. Her music is chaotic and dense in noise. She's most known for her work in Nero's Day At Disneyland; a breakcore project with punk influence and unique circus-like melodies. She also played in punk groups such as Beautiful Mutants and Strip Mall Seizures.

As of now she produces music under her own name, as well as part of In-House Pharmacy, a duo made up of her and her wife, Naomi Mitchell. She's also collaborated with other artists like Ada Rook. Under her own name, Bousfield's music is more pop-oriented and features more vocals. To me it feels like a realized version of what she made in Nero's.

What her music means to me

Bousfield is my favorite musician of all time. I connect with a lot of her music, feeling a part of how I see myself represented in the sound. The way she composes her music and blends all these sounds, natural and electronic, is mesmerizing. The visual language of the art used for her album covers is cool too.

I wish I did get into her music earlier. I only discovered her in 2022 but since I've searched for every song I could. The first song of her's that I listened to was "Stretched Linen Over Controrted Bodies." From the first listen I was obsessed. The drowned out intro, leading into cacophony of noise is great.

I've always enjoyed electronic music but I feel where my taste has matured now is thanks to finding her work. Now I seek out all kinds of loud, glitchy and strange electronic music. My favorite genre by far is 2000s experimental breakcore because of her work.
